In Memory of Harold O. Levy

Harold O. Levy was a former chancellor of the New York City public schools, and a fierce advocate for public education and classroom technology.

The son of a hardware store owner, Mr. Levy attended New York City public schools before earning an undergraduate and a law degree from Cornell. He attended Lincoln College, Oxford on a Telluride scholarship , where he received a First Class Honors PPE.

Following a career in law and finance, he was appointed chancellor of the New York City public schools, in 2000. After serving as schools chancellor, he became the president of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, which awards scholarships to high-performing, low-income students seeking higher education.

His family designated The Fund for the Harold O. Levy Middle School (IS 52) as the beneficiary of any donations made in his honor and memory. Thank you for your generosity and support.
